Fran Roselli - Jr. Kindergarten

What is your teaching background?
I have been teaching for 15 years. I have my Bachelor’s Degree from the Pennsylvania State University and my Early Childhood Education Certification from Arapahoe Community College. I am currently working on my Directors’ Certification. I have been a substitute teacher, a music teacher, a preschool teacher and now the Jr. Kindergarten teacher. I am a Colorado State Licensed teacher.

Where are you from?
I am originally from Pennsylvania. I am married with two grown daughters, a wonderful son-in-law and two beautiful granddaughters. My entire family lives in the Philadelphia tri-state area. I travel back to Pennsylvania as often as I can to see my family and take in sporting events. I am an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Philadelphia Eagles in which I still have my season tickets.

What do you enjoy outside of teaching?
I also am a cantor at St. Thomas More and the Director of a Handchimes choir there as well. The choir consists of students from grades 4-8. I also love going to the beach. I enjoy listening to the waves crash against the sand as well as taking long walks along the ocean.  It is one of my happy places in life.

Why did you choose to teach at Ave Maria Catholic School?
I have only taught in Catholic schools. I believe in faith based learning because of my love for our Lord and Savior. Children are so full of love and sharing my love of the Lord with them is exciting and they are so insightful in what they show me in their faith journey.

What do you love about Jr. Kindergarten?
I love getting to know my students and their families. They become my second family. I love supporting children in all the learning domains and giving them the tools to excel in their areas of interest. This is my favorite age group to work with because of their enthusiasm and excitement in learning new things and enjoying new adventures. There is a lot of singing and dancing that goes on in our classroom which helps facilitate the learning process. The sense of community at Ave Maria is so prevalent in the classroom and throughout the school.
School should feel like a home away from home and that’s what you get at Ave Maria. If the children have an interest we can come up with ideas to explore that interest. Last year the students were interested in where milk came from and the different types that were available. So we discussed it and decided to do a taste test of several different types of milk. They loved this activity and because they had chosen to do this, everyone was so involved and interested in participating. This is just one example of how the children can lead in learning.
Ave Maria is a special place to work and learn. I have worked in many great Catholic schools but this is by far my favorite. I look forward to meeting, learning and  growing with your child.
