Please note:

To be considered for admission, the following criteria must be met:

  • Remittance of a NON-REFUNDABLE $150.00 application/assessment fee
  • Submit recent report card/progress report from the student’s current school
  • Submit recent standardized testing results from the student’s current school
  • Submit teacher/administrator recommendations from the student’s current school (available at www.school.avemariacatholicparish.org)
    • For students entering grades K – 3rd, please submit 1 teacher recommendation:  (from Homeroom Teacher)
    • For students entering grades 4th – 6th, please submit 2 teacher recommendations:  (1 from Language Arts Teacher and 1 from Math Teacher) and 1 administrator recommendation
  • Assessment/shadow day must be completed (if enrollment space is available AND the above documents have been submitted, you will be contacted to schedule the student’s assessment/shadow day)
  • A student and/or parent interview may be requested for grades 4th – 6th)

Application Process

The Application Process for prospective students includes the following:

1.  Application

Complete and submit Application for Admission.

2.  Recommendations  

Up to two Teacher Recommendations and an Administrator Recommendation  from the child’s previous school are required to review.  Additionally, a Letter of Recommendation from a Pastor may be required for students applying to grades 6th, 7th, and 8th.

3.  Transcripts/Records  

Release of Records form should be given to the Registrar at your child’s school in order for Ave Maria Catholic School to receive an official copy of your child’s transcript/records.

4.  Shadow Date/Assessment  After required documents are submitted, a Shadow Date and an Assessment will be scheduled.

5.  Notification  Upon review of completed files, shadow visit, and assessment, students/parents will be notified if they are invited to register with Ave Maria Catholic School.

Admission Policy

1.  In a Catholic school, faith is a part of all that is learned and all that we do. The concept of faith-community is critical in a Catholic school. The priests, faculty, staff, parents, parishioners, and children make up the community and agree to work together towards the mission and goals of the school. Community members will support and guide the students as they discover their gifts and talents, serve as role models, and practice Christian values in dealing with other members of the community. While preference in admissions is given to members of the sponsoring Catholic parishes, non-Catholic students from the greater Parker area and surrounding communities are welcome.

2.  It is a goal that both Catholic and non-Catholic students become stronger in their chosen faith because they have been part of this Catholic school community. To further this goal, AMCS makes a distinction between Religious Services and Religious Activities. Religious Services involve the reception of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. Religious Activities include a much broader range of faith-based activities that do not constitute Religious Services. While parents may opt-out of certain aspects of Religious Services, all students are expected to fully participate in Religious Activities.

Religious Services

  • Non-Catholic students are required to respectfully attend Mass, but are not expected to receive Holy Communion.
  • Non-Catholic students are required to respectfully attend Communal Penance Services, but are not required to make a confession to a Priest.

Religious Activities

There is an expectation that all students will fully participate in all religious activities that do not constitute Religious Services as set forth above. Religious activities are conducted to build the school as a faith community. They include but are not limited to:

  • Prayer Services, Benediction, and Adoration
  • School-sponsored Retreats
  • Daily Prayers and Prayers before/after events (meals, sports etc.)
  • Daily Religion Classes (parents may opt-out of their child’s participation in Theology of the Body)
  • Saints’ Feast Day Celebrations (All Saints Day, St. Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, etc.)
  • Advent Ceremonies
  • Christmas Celebrations
  • Catholic Schools’ Week
  • Lenten Services
  • Holy Week Activities
  • Service Projects/Fundraisers to help others
  • Assemblies/Religion Bowls/Vocation Fairs
  • Any other religious activities which may occur throughout the school year

3.  Local and diocesan policies dictate that discipline in a Catholic school is an aspect of moral guidance. It includes reasonable controls which promote the individual’s development in a Christian environment that recognizes and respects the rights of all students and faculty members. The goal is to help each student attain a degree of self-discipline whereby each individual will grow in awareness that s/he is a child of God and is responsible for his/her actions. A school achieves its goals when it has active participation of all students and parents. The school will establish rules and regulations which contribute to the learning environment and Catholic atmosphere of the school. The principal continuously reviews and updates these rules that are contained in the AMCS Family Handbook.

4.  A Catholic school values parents as the primary educator of their child/ren. There is an expectation that both Catholic and non-Catholic families are actively involved in a parish or faith congregation of their choice. The principal should explain the “Parent Expectations” that are written for all families who attend AMCS.

What makes a Catholic school distinctive is its attempt to generate a community climate in the school that is permeated by the Gospel Spirit of faith, hope, and love. It is a faith-community where academic and personality development goes hand in hand and each student is challenged and supported to develop their God-given gifts. Parents and their willingness to support and participate in the community as role models of faith are essential. Together we will educate and form your children into articulate, faith-filled Disciples of Christ.
