What is your background?
I received my BS in Biology and BA in Chemistry from Metro Denver. I received my Masters in Environmental Science from DU. I am a Colorado State Licensed teacher.
Where are you from?
I am born and raised in Colorado — grew up in Broomfield, lived in Denver, and now live in Aurora.
Tell us about your family?
I have been married to my husband, Alan for 24 years. We have two children: Caeleb who just graduated from Eaglecrest HS and is in an Electrical Apprenticeship Program, and Victoria who will be a senior this fall at Eaglecrest. We have 2 dogs, Roux and Remi and Charlie the cat.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Work in my gardens, camp, go fishing and hiking. I love to make jewelry.
What is something people may not know about you?
I am a welder and love to build anything.
What is your favorite part of your school day?
Teaching science to our students. Helping them see the exciting world of science and how it relates to them is very rewarding.
Why do you choose to teach at Ave Maria?
The school is like an extended family. Everyone here, students and staff, are so wonderful to work with.
What do you love about teaching science?
Science is a subject that you can teach as hands-on learning. Learning while you are doing, helps students retain and understand the information being taught.
What do you love most about teaching your students?
Their questions, ideas, and curiosity they bring to the classroom.
What do students get at Ave Maria that they won’t get somewhere else?
A second family, classmates/friends that become part of their middle school life that helps shape them and helps them grow to be great people.
What do you love most about Ave Maria?
The staff, students, and families that make up this wonderful community.
What has been your most memorable moment at Ave Maria so far?
Creating the egg rovers last year with 8th grade in physics and testing them outside is all types of weather.
What do you love most about your job?
All of it. This is my reason to get out of bed in the morning. I love to see all of the students and witness the love for what they do from the other teachers.
