Are you on a traditional calendar?
Yes, students attend school from the beginning of August through the end of May. Please refer to the Calendars page to view our current Calendar.
Is Ave Maria Catholic School accredited?
Yes, AMCS is accredited through NCEA/AdvancED, a renowned school evaluation organization and Certified as Catholic through the Catholic School endorsement of the Office of Total Catholic Education in the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
Do you have a Hot Lunch Program?

Do you have before and after school care?
Yes, Before and After Care begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. during regular school days.
What are the school hours?
7:55 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Do students attend Mass regularly?
Yes, students attend the all school Mass on Fridays.
Is there a religious curriculum?
Yes, the religious curriculum is part of the daily school schedule for preschool the eighth grade. Our Catholic Faith page provides more detail of our Catholic culture.
How long has the school been in existence?
The school opened September 2000. Please refer to our Mission and History page to learn more.
Do you take CSAP tests like the public school system?
No, annually our students participate in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). Please refer to the Test Scores page to view our annual test results.
What is your class size?
The teacher student ratio is 1:14. There is a maximum capacity of 25 students per class in Kindergarten and First grade with a Teacher and Instructional Assistant, 25 students per class in Second through Fifth grade, and 27 students per class in Sixth through Eighth grade. There are two classes per grade level.
How many students continue on to Catholic high school?
Typically, over 80% of our graduating classes are accepted and attend Catholic high school. 100% of students attend the High School of their choice with many receiving scholarships and other awards.
Is there bus service?
Yes, there is limited bus service available at an additional cost. Please refer to the Transportation page for more information.
